My name is Melissa Struk and senior sessions and family sessions are my favorite... let me tell you why. I wear many different hats. At home I am a wife, a mother of two teenagers, a doodle and a lizard. In my professional world I am a preschool teacher for Chelsea School District and photographer, and have built a few websites in my time. I have played violin for my entire life and hold a degree in music education. I love to bake, exercise (to offset the baking habit), help friends and make people smile!
I began my career teaching Orchestra in Ypsilanti and then headed to Boston where I taught kindergarten music and orchestra. This adventure we like to call life then took my family to New Mexico, where I decided to take a break from teaching to stay at home with our kids.
Fast forward a few years, arriving back in Michigan, we found ourselves with a competitive gymnast in the family. That is where my photography journey began, capturing the excitement of my daughter's gymnastics team. Add a martial artist and Tae Kwon Do tournaments to the list and we are off and running. Tournaments, meets, this team, that team, oh hey can you take pictures of our family, hey I have a friend that has a senior... this list goes on. The road has been winding and full of adventures, excitement and fun bringing me to present day. There is nothing I love more than students and photography...bringing them into one world is a dream. Which brings us full circle to seniors and family sessions. I love working with students! I love seeing Seniors build confidence and shine as our session winds this way and that through conversations and landscapes. I love capturing the giggles and the pure love that is family.
Now some useless facts about me....
